Czech Republic

The Czech Republic became a member of the EU in 2004. Everyone must carry an ID at all times. If you are not a citizen from a EU member country, please check the website of the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as different rules apply.

Winters are relatively mild (the average January temperature is -2 C) and summers are not too hot (the average July temperature is 20 C)

The official currency in the Czech Republic is the Czech crown (Kč). One crown is divided into 100 hellers (h).

Highway vignette

You need to have a highway vignette to be allowed to drive on the highways of the Czech Republic. You can buy these vignettes at every border and most bigger gas stations throughout the country. Prices for 2019 are:

– 10 dagen: 310 kronen

– 1 maand: 440 kronen

– 1 jaar: 1.500 kronen

Money exchange 

You can exchange money in the Czech Republic in many places, but never do this on the street!

The international dialling code for the Czech Republic is +420 (or 00 420). When calling from abroad this must be dialled first, followed by the 9-digit number.
